The Group Villa Playbook: How to Plan a Seminyak Trip with Friends

Six to twelve friends, one villa, one shared pool. Here's how to get from group chat chaos to a trip everyone remembers for the right reasons.

A villa holiday with friends is the best way to do Seminyak. You get a private pool, a kitchen table big enough for everyone, and a place to come back to at 3am that isn't a hotel lobby. It also goes wrong in predictable ways: one person books, five people owe money, and nobody agrees who gets the master suite.

This is the playbook we'd hand to any group before they start picking dates.

1. Decide the headcount before the villa

Lock the number of people first, not the dream villa. Most Seminyak villas are sold by bedroom, and the comfortable maximum is usually two per room. A six-person group fits a three-bedroom villa well. Eight friends want four bedrooms. Ten to twelve is the territory of a larger villa or two connected ones.

2. Pick the bedroom mix that suits your group

3. Split the cost before you book

The fairest approach is the simplest: divide the total by the number of adults, and agree any exceptions (a bigger room, an extra night) up front. Because our quotes are in Australian dollars with taxes and service included, there are no surprises later. The booking takes a 30% deposit by secure card link, and the balance is due 30 days before arrival, so everyone has time to pay their share.

Nominate one person as the booker and have everyone transfer their share to them straight away. It's the single best way to avoid awkward conversations in week three.

4. Choose the area that matches the trip

5. Build a loose daily rhythm

The groups that have the best time plan one thing a day and leave the rest open. Late breakfast at the villa, a pool morning, an afternoon at a beach club, dinner on Eat Street, and a villa night in when everyone's tired. Hire a driver for the day rather than relying on taxis, and book one or two dinners ahead for the whole group.

6. Use the staff

A private villa comes with a manager and a team. Ask them to stock the fridge before you arrive, organise a private chef for one night, book a massage afternoon, or arrange transport home from a big night. It's what turns a rental into a holiday.
