Where to Stay in Seminyak

Seminyak is small enough to drive end to end in twenty minutes, and different enough that the street you pick changes the holiday.

Pick the street, then the villa

Most people choose a villa first and work out the location afterwards. In Seminyak it is worth doing it the other way around. The difference between Petitenget and Double Six is about fifteen minutes in a car, but it is the difference between walking to dinner and booking a driver every night.

Here is how the five areas actually feel.

Beach clubs & luxury

Petitenget

The top end of Seminyak, and where most of the headline villas are. Potato Head and Ku De Ta are walkable, the restaurants are the ones people fly in for, and the villas tend to be the largest in the area. Best if you want the trip to feel like an occasion.

Restaurants & shopping

Oberoi — "Eat Street"

Jalan Kayu Aya, known to everyone as Eat Street. Dozens of restaurants, boutiques and bars in a few hundred metres. You can leave the villa at seven with no plan and still eat well. Best for couples and food-led trips.

Beach & sunsets

Double Six

The southern end, closest to Legian. A long flat beach for walking, sunset bars with bean bags in the sand, and a slightly easier pace than Petitenget. Good value, and the beach is genuinely the reason to be here.

Convenience

Central Seminyak

Between the two, and the easiest base if you want everything within a short drive. Cafés, supermarkets, pharmacies and spas all close by. A sensible first choice if it is your first time in Bali.

Quiet & family-friendly

Batu Belig

Just north, on the way to Canggu. Quieter streets, bigger blocks and larger family villas for the money. You will drive to dinner rather than walk, but you will hear birds instead of scooters.

How far is the beach, really?

Almost every villa in Seminyak is described as "close to the beach". In practice, a villa on the beach side of Jalan Petitenget or Jalan Double Six is a five to ten minute walk. Anything east of Jalan Raya Seminyak is a drive — pleasant enough, but not something you will do twice a day with children and beach gear.

If beach access matters to you, say so when you enquire and we will tell you the honest walking time from the front gate.

Still not sure?

Tell us who is travelling and what you want the week to feel like, and we will point you at two or three villas rather than forty. That is the part we are actually useful for.
